I strive for grace,
Humility,
Gentleness
In every word and footstep,
But I am not quite graceful.
I write and speak so fast
That my handwriting is a cipher
My words intertwined
And oftentimes
Unintelligible.
I have never worn
A white shirt
Without spilling coffee on it.
I am clumsy,
Clunky,
Awkward –
Passionate,
Powerful,
Direct –
A force of nature
Undeterred
By ideas of gentleness
Made law by humankind.
I am not quite graceful –
I do not have the time
With this magic
Running through my veins.
Where did I learn
To value grace
Anyway?
I think I’ll choose to value
Me.
I am not quite graceful –
I have greater things to be.
