I heard they’re discontinuing
Conversation hearts
And some people are
All up in arms –

The same, in fact,
Triggered, like a snowflake white
That gingerbread
Might not be a guy

That girls kiss girls, and
Not everyone
Who lives beneath
This burning sun

Must live by the law
Of their favorite book,
That humanity exists
Beyond how they look

Outraged
That some things come to pass,
Unconcerned
By hate that seems to last

“If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention,”
But if you’re not outraged
By the truly outrageous
Why be outraged at all?
